2021/22 AWS Project Launched

The annual AWS Project, developed and delivered by DSC in association with the Career College Trust, was launched at the Birmingham Metropolitan College yesterday.

Julia von Klonowski presents to an audience

DSC consultant and AWS Digital Advisor Julia von Klonowski launched the project with a group of around 120 IT, Business, Digital and Media students at BMET’s Mathew Boulton campus. This marks the sixth year of the project’s existence where students are presented with a ‘real world’ challenge – to use technology to address a specific issue facing students.

Every year the project is sponsored by Cloud technology pioneers AWS and the Career College Trust, working together with a nominated Charity, this year The Prince’s Trust, dealing with the problems caused by Social Media, specifically in relation to Body Image and how young people perceive themselves in an ‘Insta world’!

Students will be exposed to real-world environments (for example visiting a Digital Fashion Studio, or a corporate head office) and offered the opportunity to learn from experts in their field (this will include user experience & website design specialists Experience Haus, Digital Marketing Agency Find Your Feet and Digital Strategy consultants We Explain Stuff ).

Students are required to submit pitches, which will be reviewed, and finalists selected, culminating in a series of presentations and a Grand Final in London.

Individual students, colleges and project teams will be awarded prizes in specific categories.
