Perceptions of the Police Workshop
Designing Better Relationships Through Digital Innovation
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched a series of collaborative design projects to develop digital solutions that improve relationships between young people and the police.
Our mission is to empower young people by showing that their voices matter and that they can help shape the services and communities around them. At a time when many young people feel disconnected from public institutions, creating meaningful opportunities for engagement has never been more important.
Co-Designing the Future
Our ‘Design Event’ Workshops bring together students, UX designers, police officers, government departments, businesses and charities to co- design innovative digital products and services.
Working alongside officers from different police forces, students gain first- hand experience of collaborative design while engaging in open conversations that build understanding, trust and mutual respect.
Making a Real Impact
Launched in London in 2022, with students, teachers and parents working alongside the City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police Service, the programme is now expanding across the UK, including the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Gloucestershire, Plymouth, the Lake District, and Newport, Wales.
The ideas generated through these events are helping shape digital services, designed by young people, for young people, making it easier to engage positively with the police and contribute to safer, stronger communities.
