Project Management Workshops

Project Management has been a core element of the Digital Skills Project from the very beginning. Students are introduced to the fundamental principles used by professional project managers to plan, deliver and manage successful projects.

Workshops cover essential skills including project planning, Project Initiation Documentation (PID), budgeting, team management, professional communications, meeting facilitation and stakeholder engagement. These practical sessions give students valuable insight into how projects are managed across business, government and the public sector .

Students also have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced project managers, who share real-world case studies, industry challenges and the lessons they have learned throughout their careers.

  • One particularly memorable session in 2024 featured a Project Manager from Fujitsu, who spoke candidly in the wake of the widely publicised Post Office Horizon scandal.
  • The workshop gave students a unique perspective on the human impact of major organisational failures, highlighting the importance of ethics, accountability and responsible leadership, while demonstrating how events beyond an individual’s control can affect employees and organisations alike.
