Genna Crabtree

While studying at Barking & Dagenham College, Genna participated in the Digital Skills Project, where she helped develop an innovative app aimed at reducing knife crime in towns and cities. Through the project, she had the opportunity to network with industry professionals from organisations including AWS, the BBC, The Prince’s Trust, and a range of other sponsors and stakeholders. These experiences provided valuable insights into the world of work - and helped her develop key professional and business skills.

Alongside her studies, Genna entered a competition organised by the Barking Enterprise Centre, submitting a logo design for its new workspace.

Reflecting on her time at college, she said: “I really enjoyed my experience and the many opportunities I was given, graduating with a Triple Distinction in Graphic Design and receiving the Jack Petchey Award.”

Genna enrolled at Ravensbourne University London, where she was awarded an AWS Future Engineer Scholarship. During her studies, she took on leadership roles as both a Student Ambassador and Course Representative, helping to support and inspire fellow students.

She has also returned to the Digital Skills Project as a judge, sharing her experiences and providing guidance to new participants. Genna gained valuable professional experience as an Intern Curriculum Researcher, Designer, and Project Manager before securing an apprenticeship with AWS as a Global Business Analyst.

Building on this success, Genna then joined Equus Software as a Business Analyst within the Global Client Success team, continuing her career in technology and business transformation.
