Femi moved to the UK from Nigeria at the age of 16 after completing his secondary education. Not old enough to begin university studies, he enrolled at Birmingham Metropolitan College, an experience he credits with providing a strong foundation for his future academic and professional success.

A few months into his course, he faced challenges that nearly forced him to leave, however, with support from the college, he participated in the Digital Skills Project and the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills he gained there have remained with him ever since.

Femi’s team developed a digital solution to help Comic Relief, encouraging greater involvement from young people in social causes. Their innovative mobile app used ‘virtual hand-prints’ placed around a city.

The project gave him valuable insight into how technology can be used to create positive social impact and improve people’s lives. It also strengthened his skills in teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and digital innovation.

Following college, Femi completed an internship as a Web Developer in Germany before going on to study Music, Sound and Technology at City University London.

He subsequently secured internships with Deutsche Bank through its Spring into Banking Rise Insight Programme, and the University of Westminster’s Working Cultures programme in Mumbai.
